After earning a BFA from The Ohio State University and an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the University of Pennsylvania, Associate Art Consultant work brought Karen to New York City art industry. For close to a decade, Lowry’s creative voice stemmed from exploration of the gritty urban landscapes of east coast cities. Upon the return to her Midwestern homeland in 2008, she worked as an Adjunct Professor of color/design and drawing at institutions in Ohio.
Her childhood saw vacations in the Canadian wilderness and, throughout her career, artist residencies and creative exploration have taken Karen to mountain summits of Colorado, vineyards of central Italy, and frosted winters in Vermont. She draws inspiration from physical and interpersonal landscapes and acknowledges that cynical voices of past critics make her a stronger creative.
